Following outstanding success in the world of lounge and chill-out music, Cathy Battistessa is recognised internationally as the “Voice of Café del Mar”, writing and performing legendary chill-out songs such as “More Than Ever People”, “Oh Home”, “Shine” and “Riva”.
Many of her classic chill-out and dance-floor hits are featured on artist and compilation albums including Café del Mar, Ministry of Sound, The Afterlife Lounge, Café Mambo, Café Ibiza, Hed Kandi and Buddha Lounge. In 2000 Cathy co-wrote the UK Top 10 hit “A Little Bit of Luck” with DJ Luck & MC Neat which stayed in the UK Top 10 for seven weeks.
Cathy has collaborated and composed with numerous innovative producers, writers and artists across the globe including Valgier Siggurson (Bjork), Rob da Bank and Chris Coco (BBC Radio), Xpress2, Stephane Pompougnac (Hotel Costes), Jose Padilla, Paco Fernandez and Slow Pulse from Ibiza – co-writing six songs for their debut album.
She has also enjoyed considerable success co-writing with Steve Miller (Afterlife) on tracks such as “Shine”, “Go Easy”, the latest single “Let It Go” and the title track of the latest Afterlife Lounge album, “Speck of Gold”.
Cathy’s live performance is pure stream of consciousness at its finest – the freestyling live set features a range of infectious vocal melodies, sung over a mix of beats, grooves and textures – all the while Cathy sampling live, painting with the layers of sound.
Cathy has spent much of the last two years crafting her eagerly awaited debut solo album, a soulful journey in sound inspired by worldwide travels; collaborating with artists from the remote jungles of Brazil to the moonscapes of Iceland. This summer she will perform a few select intimate gigs to refine and showcase this material.
